Week 8 July 26-30
Fall Break Art Alive! Performance Art Camp
with Shawn Philip Cornelius
This class is for children 10 and up who have an inclination for creative work, creative writing and performing.
In this class, your child will develop an original spooky character, create a costume with upcycled materials from home, and write a monologue introducing their character. Their character can be anything from a ghost, a Witch, or a zombie. This monologue is to be written and then memorized for Performance.
Learn the Rules of Improv and play Improv Games. Improvisation helps students develop their creative instincts, teamwork, and spontaneity. Your student will also learn the skills to Storytelling by adapting a Ghost Story into a live ensemble narration. From the page to the stage students will learn the discipline of bringing a script to life. They will memorize their lines, block their movement, and perform the final result at the showcase.
At the end of the week, the students will invite you to attend our showcase where they will present their monologues, perform some improvised scenes, and as an ensemble tell you a story that will terrify you with talent.
