This intermediate digital illustration class for students ages 13 and up is an exciting and comprehensive course designed to introduce aspiring artists to the world of digital illustration using Procreate and iPads.  Throughout this course, students will have the opportunity to create illustrations based off of their favorite characters.

Students will pursue the following learning objectives:

• Learn the fundamentals of digital art, including the use of digital tools.
• Explore different digital art mediums such as painting, drawing and illustration.
• Explore various techniques specifically tailored for digital art such as color theory, composition, shading, and texturing.
• Improve lineart, line quality, and solid drawing techniques.
• Learn how to convey a message through art.
• Understand composition and visual storytelling.
• Understand how to mock up book and/or magazine spreads, which includes book covers and spines and digital layout.

No prior experience in digital art is required. This class is suitable for students with some artistic background who are eager to explore digital art techniques.

iPads and Apple Pencils are provided by the MACC, but you are welcome to bring your own.

In this dynamic two-hour photography session, participants ages 13 and up will delve into the depths of the art of photography, exploring both technical skills and creative expression.

This course is designed for beginners and enthusiasts eager to unlock the full potential of their camera and unleash their artistic vision. Throughout the session, participants will learn fundamental principles of composition, lighting, and framing, gaining a deeper understanding of how to capture captivating images that tell a story and evoke emotion. From mastering the rule of thirds to harnessing the power of natural and artificial light, participants will acquire practical techniques to elevate their photography to new heights.

Beyond technical proficiency, this course emphasizes the importance of creativity and individual style. Through interactive exercises and hands-on practice, participants will learn how to infuse their photographs with personality and meaning, discovering their unique voice as visual storytellers. Drawing upon the latest advancements in technology and digital artistry, students will explore a wide array of advanced techniques, applications, and concepts that will empower them to create stunning and visually captivating artworks.

Our curriculum is thoughtfully crafted to address the diverse needs of students and cater to different artistic styles and interests. Through hands-on projects, interactive discussions, and personalized guidance, students will delve into various aspects of digital art.

• Developing period-piece costuming
• Exploring advanced fantasy costume design

The Lost and Found Sculpture Class offers a creative platform for students ages 13 and up to explore the intersection of art, sustainability, and resourcefulness.  In this class, students embark on a journey of artistic expression by constructing a large-scale sculpture entirely from recyclable materials.

Throughout the course, students are encouraged to unleash their imagination and ingenuity as they scour for discarded items that can be repurposed into meaningful artworks. From plastic bottles to cardboard boxes, each piece of material becomes a building block in the creation of a collaborative masterpiece.

Students will learn fundamental principles of sculpture, including design, structure, and balance. Through hands-on experimentation, they discover innovative techniques for manipulating materials and assembling components to bring their vision to life.
