Painting: Abstracting the Landscape - Adult

$78

with Lily Prince

Calendar Next session starts Oct 7, 2023 at 12 pm, runs for 1 week

Are you curious about the endless possibilities of personal expression through abstract landscape painting? Then this course is for you! Looking at old and contemporary master artists, students will begin this workshop by making quick studies of these landscape artists’ works to learn specific techniques to create illusionistic depth, atmosphere, perspective, and mood. We will discuss the varied options for students’ future landscape inspired work: from memory, photos and en plein air.

This workshop will offer exposure to and exploration of methods of creating abstract landscape space and imagery. An important goal is to learn to express a personal interpretation of place. Students will emphasize abstract mark making and gesture to best articulate the type of abstract space they want to create. We will encourage discussion and experimentation while learning the basic skills of creating illusionistic space. Open to painters of all levels!
