Digital Art Fundamentals: Beginner Digital Drawing Class

Students ages 9 and up will dive into the basics of digital drawing, learn about digital tablets, stylus controls and navigating the popular drawing software Procreate to acquire a solid foundation for a seamless transition into the digital art space.

Course Highlights:

Understanding Digital Tools: Explore the diverse array of digital brushes, pens, and tools available in digital drawing software. Learn how to use these tools effectively to create lines, shapes, and textures with precision.

Fundamental Drawing Techniques: Master fundamental drawing techniques such as sketching, line art, and basic shading. Develop a keen eye for proportions, perspectives, and shapes as you lay the groundwork for your digital art journey.

Color Theory Basics: Delve into the principles of color theory, discovering how to choose and blend colors to create visually appealing digital artwork. Explore the impact of color on mood and composition.

Layer Management and Editing: Learn the ins and outs of layer management, an essential skill in digital drawing. Understand how to organize your artwork into layers, make non-destructive edits, and experiment with different elements independently.

Introduction to Digital Composition: Explore the basics of composition, focal points, and visual storytelling. Understand how to arrange elements within your digital canvas to create engaging and aesthetically pleasing artwork.

Community and Support: Join a supportive community of fellow beginners and art enthusiasts. Share your progress, ask questions, and connect with others who are on the same creative journey.

Whether you're a complete novice or have some traditional art experience, our Beginner Digital Drawing Class is your gateway to unleashing your creativity in the digital realm. Join us as we explore the exciting world of digital art and help you take your first steps toward becoming a digital drawing maestro!

This class will repeat every 4 weeks with all NEW projects and skill building.

iPads and Apple Pencils are provided by the MACC, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Mini Monet's: Mixed Media Class

Embark on a creative journey with our mixed media art class, where imagination knows no bounds! Young artists ages 5 – 8 will learn to express themselves through a multitude of textures, colors, and form all while unleashing their creativity and developing their artistic skills in a supportive and fun environment.

Children will discover the joy of combining different mediums such as acrylic, watercolor, papers, fabrics, found objects, and more.  Projects may include such themes as animals, books and pop culture, just to name a few.

This class emphasizes self-expression, enabling children to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and ideas through their artwork.  Group activities and collaborative projects will encourage teamwork and the exchange of ideas, fostering a sense of community among young artists.

Students will pursue the following learning objectives during this 19 week course:

  • Explore Line.
  • Explore color (color wheel)
  • Explore shapes (organic and inorganic)
  • Explore texture.
  • Explore forms.
  • Explore emphasis, pattern, and balance.
  • Explore concepts (could include, but not limited to landscape, portraits, creatures, still life and historical landmarks).
  • Explore realistic and abstract ideas.

*Please note classes will not be held during Spring Break, March 18 – 22nd.
