Anime Art - Thursdays

Students ages 12 and up will learn the techniques of professional anime illustration such as shading, perspective, figure drawing, and proportion while using the highest quality markers, pens, and inks. They will also learn about character development, and they will receive instruction in how to plan out their compositions using elements and principles of design. Most importantly, they will get practice through repetition and time with a guided instructor to help them work through some areas they may be struggling with. Supply fee: $50. Discount: 15 percent for MACC members.

 

Digital Art 2019 - Monday

Ages 12+

Are you ready to take your drawing style and experience to the next level? Learn how to transfer alter and refine artwork that you have done on paper and turn it into a digital work of art. Learn how to draw directly on a tablet and paint using the in class app Procreate, the IPad Pro, and Apple Pencil. This class teaches students the universal language of digitizing art, the translatable terms and concepts necessary to understand whether you are working on a PC, MACBOOK, or Wacom drawing table. Tablets and digital drawing pens are provided. Students are able to bring their own preferred device. Discount: 15 percent for MACC members.

Introduction to Comics and Cartooning

Enter the world of comics and learn how to tell fun and compelling visual stories. Students 12 and up will learn how to draw figures, create vibrant, action-packed poses, and convey expressive facial features. Character development, panel interaction and framing are all part of the curriculum. Students will complete comic covers, mini-comics, and do many other projects that will help them develop their knowledge and experience in the art of comic making. As a bonus, students will have the option to work on their comics digitally, applying them to Procreate on our iPads.

Mix It Up Media - Mondays

Students ages 9 to 14 will be exposed to many different art styles and get an opportunity to create unique compositions using a variety of different art making techniques that include; drawing, painting, sculpting, collage, and printmaking. Students will get to try new art mediums such as pastels, watercolors, papier-mâché. These young artists will get the freedom to let their imagination and creativity out in a small classroom environment, surrounded by motivated like minded classmates, and caring knowledgeable instructors who are alway ready to help! Monart: Drawing and Painting

This class teaches students ages 6-8 the basics of drawing and painting using the Monart Method, a uniquely designed methodology that has taught tens of thousands of children and adults around the world how to draw. Guided lessons demonstrate to students how to see the fundamental art elements of line, shape, texture, color, and space. Through fun projects that develop students’ drawing and painting skills, young artists learn how to work with a variety of art mediums, enabling them to create drawings and paintings that reflect their own individual personality. Students master the tasks of planning, problem solving and follow through in a safe environment of no competition, providing them with the freedom to create, along with enough structure to be successful. Subject matter for projects includes animals, nature, sea life, landscapes, buildings, people, artists, and different cultures. Media: Markers, oil & chalk pastels, charcoal, introduction to acrylic painting and watercolors. Supply fee: $50. Discount: 15 percent to MACC members.

Monart: Drawing and Painting

This drawing and painting class provides students ages 9 to 12 with the opportunity to begin to work more independently on their art, but also allowing for guided drawings for beginning students in this age group on an "as needed" basis. Students are introduced to creating more three dimensionality and realism in their art using shading, perspective, and composition. As they begin mastering techniques and media, students will be encouraged to develop their own style and creative approach, with continued focus on visual training, planning and process. A full range of subjects will be explored including the human form, animals, nature, still life, landscape, and master artists. Media: Markers, oil & chalk pastels, charcoal, watercolors, acrylics, graphite, colored pencils. Supply fee: $50. Discount: 15 percent for MACC Members.
