Learn the basics of watercolor painting and develop skills you can use to create your own masterpiece! This 2-week class will look at some of the most popular techniques in watercolor painting from abstract to florals. Students are encouraged to ask your questions and try something new! Through guided hands-on activities each student will gain the practice and confidence to explore the medium and develop a unique visual style.

Week 1 Intro - Learn the basics of watercolor painting and color mixing. We will explore the color wheel, watercolor pigments, brush techniques, and more in this introduction.

Week 2 Still Life – Using the techniques explored in week 1 students will have an opportunity to create a still life watercolor painting set up by the instructor. This activity is self-paced and individual style is encouraged!

Pigmented Paper 1 Day Workshop With Lisa Jennings

Working Artist Give yourself the day to play and have fun using fluid acrylic paints creating pigmented papers. Come play and experiment making multiple sheets of your own pigmented paper. I will share with you the different kinds of paper I use in my studio and some paper history. We will cover 3 different types of pigmented paper using mulberry paper which is a very durable fiber. This is a great class to take if you are wanting to expand your mixed media fodder or just have fun. You’ll received a handout of the inventory list of products and where to purchase them.

1. Mono printing which we will use old glazed butcher block cutting boards to print our papers on.

2. Geli Plate printing is the new cool for creating interesting abstract pieces. There are endless ways to use a gel plate.

3. Batik resist is my newest of additions to my work with paper. It is the use of wax resist on paper or textiles to create one layer or multiple layers of color through. I will talk about the history of Batik resist and we will explore all the different ways to print with singular and multiple colors. It’s easy to get lost in the intricacy of using the wax with multiple designs, layers of color and using printing with wood blocks.

One Day workshop learning stencils, stamps with Gelli Plate Printing with Lisa Jennings

Give yourself the day to play and have fun learning how to use a gelli Plate. Lisa will show and demonstrate how to print with mulberry papers that she uses in her own artworks. Come play and experiment printing multiple sheets of your own pigmented paper plus carve your own rubber stamp. She will walk you through creating your own rubber stamp, using it with the gelli plate, as well as how to use the stencils with the gelli plate. This is a great class to take if you are wanting to expand your mixed media fodder and focus on gelli plate printing. You’ll receive a handout of the inventory list of products and where to purchase them. There are infinite ways to use a gelli plate!
